Whether you’re an ISO, acquirer or merchant, it is virtually certain that your payments environment has become increasingly complex the last couple of years. Advances in device technology – combined with the proliferation of cloud services, mobility and social networks– have created increasingly rapid cycles of innovation and there is no sign that things will slow down.
The world of payments has been changing ever since we entered what we’ll call the PCI era. Here in the U.S., the EMV liability shift is just about upon us, and there is growing industry pressures and consumer demand to support emerging payment methods such as Apple Pay, and to deploy new consumer engagement and loyalty programs.
Keeping payments simple for merchants in the face of these dynamics is a challenge. Merchants will be looking to their ISOs and acquirers to provide single solutions that provide flexibility while removing the burdens of integration, management and cost volatility.
Payment as a Service, or “PAAS, ” is a natural evolution of the payments business that pulls together core services into components that can be mixed and matched by ISOs and acquirers to deliver what their merchants want in a way that makes commercial and economic sense. An example of this is Verifone Point, Verifone’s North American PAAS offering that can bundle combinations of hardware, software, gateway and support services into a single integrated payments solution.
The following is just a sample of the benefits this offering enables ISOs and acquirers to provide to merchants of all sizes and in all verticals:
- Secure payment acceptance across all sales channels
- “One stop” solution that removes payment complexity
- Reduced total cost of payment system ownership
- Seamless, secure payment acceptance and transaction management
- Client services, consulting and training, and help desk support
Next week, at the ETA Transact® 15 conference in San Francisco, you’ll have an opportunity to see and learn about some of the progress that Verifone and industry partners are making in this area.
Secure Commerce Architecture (SCA) is a foundational element in Verifone Point, and at Transact 15, where some of the biggest payments innovations are showcased, we’re announcing that it has been certified by TransFirst to connect Verifone’s EMV and NFC-enabled terminals and PIN pads directly to TransFirst’s web-based payment processing platform—Transaction Express®.
Such a secure, direct connection between the terminal and processor is invaluable, especially in the U.S. considering the EMV liability shift as well as continuously changing regulations and standards.
