EFTPOS terminals NZ

A telecommunications connection is required to send transaction details from your terminal, to the EFTPOS New Zealand network, and back again. Our terminals have a range of connectivity options.

IP (Broadband) Connectivity

On the EFTPOS New Zealand Network, our IP (Broadband) solution connects through any Internet Service Provider (ISP) so you can add your eftpos transaction processing to your existing broadband plan. The transaction processing won't have any noticeable impact on your broadband data usage either, as the process has an extremely low bandwidth requirement.

Transactions processed by IP (Broadband) are much faster than dial up, giving quicker payment service for your customers. This option also allows multiple terminals to operate over the same IP (Broadband) connection simultaneously, eliminating the cost of phone lines for each terminal. IP (Broadband) is a popular solution for businesses today as it provides the speed and flexibility expected by customers. Customers using Static IP can also take advantage of our IP (Broadband) solution; and we also offer IP options to those using, or intending to use, a Paymark terminal.

WiFi Connectivity

EFTPOS New Zealand terminals support WiFi connectivity, providing your business with greater flexibility. With WiFi, card payments are processed via your own secure wireless network, removing the need for a phone line dedicated to transactions.

GPRS Connectivity

Our GPRS eftpos terminals operate via the Vodafone GPRS network. This is a secure nationwide wireless network that covers around 97% of where New Zealander's live and work. This connectivity option is ideal for businesses that need to take card payments while on the road - ideal for those delivering goods or performing trades.

Dial up

EFTPOS New Zealand supports dial up connectivity, should your business prefer to maintain a phone line that is dedicated to eftpos transaction processing. As more merchants upgrade their connectivity to IP (Broadband) the cost of supporting the dial platform per merchant has significantly increased. As a result a portion of the cost of maintaining the platform is passed on to merchants using the dial service.

All merchant terminals connecting to the EFTPOS New Zealand network via dial up for 80% or more of their total transaction volume incur an additional charge of $5.00 + GST per terminal, per month. This charge appears as a separate line item on your invoice as ‘Dial Fee’.
